In partnership between Well Arts, the Hollywood Senior Center, Friendly House, and local professional actors, a memberal experience…Voices of our Elders. February 3-11 “A Dose of Reality” and February 17-25 “We Are Still Here”. All performances are Friday at 8:00pm and Saturday at 3:00pm. Tickets are $10. All performances will be at the Hollywood Senior Center.

Spend an evening with the “Voices of Our Elders elder writers”, volunteers, actors and professional facilitators of the Well Arts Institute. You will be fed, have the opportunity to do some early holiday shopping at our silent auction and raffle, and will be regaled and moved by the experiences of our writers, actors and supporters as they tell us about their journey using creativity to achieve well being.
Well Arts Institute is an arts-in-healthcare non-profit with the mission “to explore, develop, and practice creativity as a means of wellness” facilitating writing workshops for people facing life-altering health issues, then pairing participants with professional actors who perform their stories on stage for the general community. Well Arts works with elders, veterans, people in drug addiction recovery, adults with mental illness, Multiple Sclerosis, AID, children and adults with cancer and children and their families with Juvenile Diabetes.

Reading will be held on January 25th & 26th, 2011 at 12:30pm at the Mezzanine at the Gerding Theatre, The Armory, 128 NW 11th Ave,Portland, OR.
This presentation by the Well Arts Institute, which has been collecting writings and oral memoirs from elders all over Portland, at Terwilliger Plaza, Friendly House, Summerplace, Augustana Church, Loaves & Fishes, Hollywood Senior Center and Elders in Action. All of the writers except one were in 24-hour care and had varying states of memory loss.
